A Clue!
I accidentally overheard something during lunch today that I'm not sure I was supposed to hear. My four-year-old was busy eating his lunch and muttering something about generators. Weird enough, true, but it got me to thinking. We parents always seem to be asking the question: "where do they get all that energy?". Maybe the left-over pasta and the peanut butter sandwiches are a clue. You may want to jot it down just in case! ;o)
We Have This Cat...
His name is Peanut. He isn't a particularly bright animal. Not only is he not particularly smart, handsome would be a bit of a stretch, too. He's so lazy we refer to him as the "orange rug". He sort of makes Garfield look like a perky young aerobics instructor by comparison. So why do I bring up such an obviously useless beast? Well, the sad truth of the matter is that he often reminds me of myself (no he isn't pregnant, just fat.).For instance, tonight he was crying outside the window wanting into the house. My eldest son went and opened the door for him, but Peanut (that being our cat's name as well as a description of his intellect) was so intent on trying to get in through the window that he didn't even notice that another way had been opened up for him. As a matter of fact, he was so intent upon getting in through the window that he didn't even heed my son's calls for him. Ditto ended up going outside and physically steering Peanut toward the door before Peanut would notice it. I'm afraid that I get like that sometimes. I think I get so intent upon what I am after that even when the Lord opens up a way for me, I'm still busy trying to get what I want in my own way. Sad, isn't it?
Just When Things Were Settling Down...
Friday morning Eaglewood and I awoke to the sound of a sick child and running feet. Were those feet running for the bathroom, or at least for the hard floors? Nope. We had a sick, and vomiting four-year-old making a beeline for Mommy and Daddy's bedroom where he knew the REAL help would be! :o/ Eaglewood intercepted him and managed to both calm him down and clean him up before I could even wiggle out of bed. Sneefurt soon appeared and made the announcement that he was under the weather, too. So, while poor Eaglewood was off working and avoiding all the rest of the fun, the big kids and I spent the weekend with sick little boys and lots of corny old videos! At least we had a little fun family bonding. Unfortunately, in spite of avoiding most of the fun over the weekend, Eaglewood came down with the stomach bug this morning. Being a contractor, he bravely went off to work anyway. Being a wife and unable to do anything else for him, I have spent much time in prayer on his behalf. In case you were wondering where I disappeared to ALREADY... I'm afraid that I have been spending time with sick family members, old movies, Veggie Tales, getting a little rest for myself, and getting closer to the Lord who loves us all so much in spite of our quirkiness. Thanks for understanding.
This May Be Just a Figment...
But I think I might be back! After battling a sinus infection for sooooo long (about a month and a half or so), I was left pretty run-down and exhausted. What energy I did have I owed to the Lord, my husband and my children. I am beginning to get caught up a bit now, and am feeling MUCH better! I really do thank all of you who prayed for me and who offered health advice. You are truly appreciated. I did manage to put some of my spare moments (if any mother can be said to have a "spare" moment...) to good use. I finished a small filet crochet afghan for little Wiggles, and finally started shopping for a few baby things. Since I had become infertile after Puddleglum, we didn't have any baby stuff left at all. My baby sister, who is actually a lovely grown woman with a daughter of her own, has come to my rescue and offered a baby bed, high chair and other things. Now, I am in the throws of rearranging and reorganizing the whole house to accommodate a new baby. Please pray for Eaglewood. I will probably manage to drive him crazy soon!
